Gimme Some Truth - 3 Burning Questions

The latest episode of FlashForward - Gimme Some Truth, left us with THREE BURNING QUESTIONS. Click through the jump to see if you can help us find the pieces to these mysteries..

1. Who is Nicole’s ‘Killer’?

Nicole's "killer"

The identity of Nicole’s killer is becoming one of the most interesting mysteries floating out there in FlashForward land TM. All we really know about the event is that she’s being held under water and believes that she deserves it. One thought that crossed my mind is that she is misinterpreting her flash forward. With her being a Christian, could it be that she is actually being baptized? As for the smiling man holding her down under water, could he turn out to be her priest (compare the above photo with this one of the Priest)?

This possibility looks slim when we take into account that Nicole was literally fighting for her life (most unlike being baptized), and the similarity between the priest and her ‘attacker’ seems like a vague one in the cold light of day. So the hunt goes on -- who is attacking Nicole in her flash forward?

2. How Does Janis Become Pregnant?

According to Janis’ flash forward she learns that she’s going to be a mother some 6 months from now. However, this episode threw up two potential roadblocks to that future. On the one hand we learned that she’s a lesbian (I’m surprised at the negative outcry from some quarters over that kiss , seriously, what century are we in?), with little interest in dating any guys in the near future. This wouldn’t necessarily prevent her from becoming pregnant since there are medical solutions available in such circumstances. But the fact that she gets shot -- in the stomach - at the end of the episode suggests that maybe her future isn’t set in stone?

Put it this way, if Janis survives with all her bodily functions intact, then the show could well be heading down a deterministic path (at least for now), suggesting that what they saw cannot be escaped. Although, who’s to say that their visions aren’t some kind of freewill based prophecy?

Any way, the main point is this -- with Janis lying in a pool of her own blood, how does this affect her future chances of fulfilling her flash forward?

3. Explosion Proof?

In what was probably the most contrived moment in FF’s short history, the fact that Dimitri, Mark and Agent Vreede escaped that explosion (and the subsequent hail of bullets) without a scratch, leaves myself and many other FF viewers asking..HOW? (it’s not the first time either, remember the warehouse in White To Play?)

How exactly did they survive?  Are there supernatural forces at work? Does their survival allude to the idea that their flash forwards are actually safe-guarding them until April 29th (or March 15th in Dimitri’s case)?

Unless the show takes more of a..LOST turn in that respect (and you know what, it might just be doing that), this has to go down as a contrived moment that the writers hoped would be “cool”, but ended up insulting the intelligence of its audience. I know that cool guys don’t look at explosions, but come on! :)

I don't think they're that far into it, I think the audience gets it. It's gonna be pretty hard for her to have a kid, blah blah blah blah. We all know that she's going to get pregnant sooner or later.
  • Can anyone post screenshots from Janis' sonogram and see if there's a scar from a bullet involved?
  • Everything is falling into place and will happen just as the flash forward predicted it would.

True. You have to wonder whether freewill and fate are just bystanders themselves in all of this. Different characters have exerted both of these forces, yet the destination seems to be the same. So far.

Everything is falling into place and will happen just as the flash forward predicted it would. Olivia is growing suspicious and all the events surrounding her switch to the other man will also be coming true in the weeks to come.
  • Yeah, I'd think she survives the shooting - but what of her chances of still getting pregnant? Hmm..

At the risk of sounding like a spoiler, imdb has Christine Woods (Janis) appearing in 9 episodes just like Fiennes. If true, it could mean that she survives the shooting.
