The tarot theme is cute and ties into the ‘see the future’ aspect of the show, but I wonder whether we can really read anything into them?

Back in December Walt Disney Studios announced that they would be bringing the first 10 episodes of FlashForward to DVD on Feb 23rd. This was followed by details of the rather uninspired cover-art. Now comes the promotion for next week’s launch, and the first official confirmation that the Complete First Season (that’s now 22 episodes) will also be making it to DVD and Blu-ray this August. That’s not all, there’s also an official FlashForward DVD website where you can get $15 and $20 off the DVDs and Blu-rays respectively. Head past the jump for more details.

First a recap – FlashForward, Season 1, Part 1 (the first 10 episodes) is released on DVD and Blu-ray Tuesday, Feb 23rd.

We had been wondering whether this release would come with any bonus features, after all, it’s only the first 10 episodes. This has now been confirmed – there will be minimal extras, including a behind the scenes look at “Creating A Catastrophe”, and a spoilery “Look ahead” to the remainder of the season, which returns March 18th. According to SciFi Wire, the sneak peek contains the following (spoiler alert):

“A Look Ahead” is a bonus feature on Disc 2 of the set and begins with Mark (Joseph Fiennes) getting chewed out by Wedeck (Courtney B. Vance) for defying orders and going to China. Mark is suspended and forced to see a psychiatrist.

As we mentioned above, there’s also a new FlashForward DVD site – FlashForward-DVD.com, containing information and promotional material for the Part One, Season One release. By far the most interesting thing on the site is the $15 and $20 discount off the Complete First Season DVD and Blu-ray, respectively, when they land in August (no exact date given as yet, only the month). The discounts come in the form of ‘coupons’ which you will be able to print from the site – although they’re not set up to print just yet – I imagine they will be activated to coincide with next week’s Part One release.

It looks like some nice goodwill and a neat piece of marketing, but I’ll be honest, I probably wont be buying the first half of the season on DVD (not that I’d turn my nose up at a freebie if one was to come my way ). The show is yet to truly captivate on the level I hoped it would, and that’s just me being brutally honest – blog or no blog. Yet I still follow the show in the hope that it will come good, so clearly the potential is still intact. I think the first few episodes back should give us a good indication of whether or not the show will still be around by the time of the full season DVD/Blu-ray release.

The official photos follow a line of recent promotional material for the alphabet’s brave new hope. As is the trend these days, there is more to these shots than meets the eye – the theme seems to reflect the ‘mad world‘ / time displacement that the flash forward’s will bring to characters and the world of the show. Dominic Monaghan‘s character can also be seen calmly levitating, whilst others are literally hanging on for dear life – no doubt there’s plenty of metaphor in there!

Here’s the latest promo poster for FlashForward, featuring the shots of  the cast members, including a new-looking one’s of the latest recruits; Dominic Monaghan and Gabrielle Union.

The global thematic is a reference to one of FlashForward’s driving ideas: “we’re all in this together”.

JoinTheMosaic.com is now live for folks to enter their flash forward’s into the global database!

The site actually looks pretty decent and has a few interesting interactive elements, such as Stories from the Mosaic. The site should be updated weekly, so be sure to check it out if ARG’s are your thing.

UPDATE: TruthHack.com has also been updated with a new video in the last few days.

In response to the Global Blackout, The Mosaic Collective launched their Join the Mosaic initiative at Comic-Con in July 2009, inviting participants to record their FlashForward’s.

The FlashForward Alternate Reality Game has flipped into gear with the appearance of a new website – TruthHack.com, and video-blog run by a guy called Oscar Obregon, an award winning investigative journalist, on mission to uncover the truth behind the “Global Blackout” (GBO).

Oscar provides a good overview of what he currently knows about the GBO/flashforward’s, and explains the government group attempting to crack the global event – The Mosaic Task Force.

As we reported a few months ago, ABC have set up an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) to help promote FlashForward. “The Mosaic Collective” invites fans and interested parties to blur the lines between fiction and reality by sharing their own flash forwards via a world-wide database. With Comic Con in full swing and the FlashForward panel scheduled for tomorrow, this is the perfect opportunity for the show to gain the attention of curious minds.

If you’re at Comic Con you can record your made-up (or real) vision of the future in one of their mobile recording booths, alternatively you can wait til’ August 16th when their new site goes online, at JoinTheMosaic.com. The original site TheMosaicCollective.com is still active for fans to submit their ‘text-driven’ entries.
