Last week we posted news of Jessika Borsiczky, Lisa Zwerling and Tim Lea come in as the new showrunners (I believe that Borsiczky and Zwerling have already served as as executive producers).
As for the latest reduction in season 1 episodes from 23 to 22, The Wrap, suggests that ABC didn’t need the other episode once they had pushed the return date back to March 18th. So there we go, everything is clear. As mud.
